A few minutes ago I was having an internal dialogue, and just as I was about raising a praise along the lines of: I am thankful, it’s such a privilege to be here and now; I had another thought which I so wanted to belt:
‘It ain’t perfect but I’ve got praise!’
I think I mumbled this once or twice until the word came:
Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise. (RHE).
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings, hast thou established strength. (ASV)
From the mouths of nursing babies, you have laid a strong foundation. (CEB)
From the mouths of little children and infants, you have built a fortress. (GW)
You have established a stronghold from the mouths of children and nursing infants. (CSB)
From the lips of children and infants, you have ordained praise. (NIV)
Nursing infants gurgle choruses about you; toddlers shout the songs that drown out enemy talk, and silence atheist babble. (MSG)
Psalm 8:2
Why the MOUTH and not any other body parts? You know the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart (life container), and is a home for the tongue which is potent enough to create or terminate life.
Ok, but why perfect praise or ordain strength in the mouth of someone so fragile, frail and feeble? Babes are immature, inexperienced, and imperfect. Yes J, but they are also intuitive, intelligent, and in many ways influential. Besides they are unsuspecting – you never know what they can do or have done till the evidences appear.
But God chose what is nonsense in the world to make the wise feel ashamed. God chose what is weak in the world to make the strong feel ashamed. God’s nonsense is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength. (1 Corinthians 1:27,25)
Ahhhh, I see! You are drowning and silencing the enemy in oblivion? Selah!
